NIR Spectroscopy with Application of Chemometric Algorithms in Forensic Wood Analysis

The article addresses practical aspects of applying the spectroscopy in near infrared region method when conducting forensic examinations wood. Based on obtained results, it has been concluded that NIR spectra can be used as an informative indicator to determine species woody plants, well track origin timber and detect facts illegal logging. authors demonstrate possibility interpreting spectral data using formal independent class analogy modeling discriminant analysis projections onto latent structures. They have also built stable workable classification models differentiate Dipteryx odorata (Cumaru) panamensis (Cumarurana), common hornbeam ( Carpinus betulus ) various geographical origin.
